This October half term sees the return of our annual Family Arts Festival to Salford and Trafford offering eye boggling arts for all the family.
This year we have already confirmed two amazing theatre shows in Stick Man and The Wind in the Willows. More events and activities will be confirmed in the lead up to the festival so keep those eyes peeled!

This half-term make your way to The Lowry’s magical storytelling tent for thirty minutes of enchantment, excitement and adventure. Musicians from the BBC Philharmonic join forces with The Lowry again to inspire families to get creative with live music as part of the Family Arts Festival 2016. This free event on Monday 24 October in the Compass Room at The Lowry, is set to ignite the imaginations of creative thinkers of all ages. Musicians from the BBC Philharmonic will perform animal themed classical music to inspire families to build their own versions of wild and domestic animals from all over the world…… out of LEGO!!! Artist Annette Waterfield will create a 3D landscape for families to show-off their creations, with a little bit of help from Alex Bidolak, master model builder from LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Manchester. There will be four one hour sessions starting at: 10.00-11.00 11.30-12.30 13.30-14.30 15.00-16.00 This one-day event forms part of the Salford and Trafford Family Arts Festival 2016, an annual week of activities presented by The Lowry over the October half-term holidays to bring the arts to life for families.
Welcome to Hatchling College, an eggciting place to learn all about native birds and how to be a good birder. Sit in a giant nest and get involved in this interactive eggsperience led by our three eggstrodinary professors. Filled with a fantastic mix of music, puppetry, facts and fun, this humorous show brings to life native bird characters in a new and engaging way. A show suitable for children aged 4-9 years including those with SEN and their families. This show builds on the success of HandMade Theatre’s production The Flying Machine. As ever this show aims to engage a diverse audience in a truly unique and interactive theatre experience.
Scamp Theatre’s delightful adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s hugely popular children’s book STICK MAN is coming to The Lowry! Touching, funny and utterly original, this award-winning production features a trio of top actors and is packed full of puppetry, songs, live music and funky moves.
The Early Ears Trio from the BBC Philarmonic will be performing at the Lowry on Thursday 27 th Oct with three 40 min sessions starting at: 10.00-10.40 11.00-11.40 12.00-12.40 This interactive musical experience is aimed at 4-6 year olds. Children can listen, sing, hear stories, recognise musical instruments and interact with the players through playing simple percussion instruments and conducting/directing the players. The free tickets are available to book from Mon 17 October.
